Pitforge Summer Update

Pitforge Summer Update

Hello, Pitforge community! We’re excited to share the latest progress on our next big release. Our server is now running on Minecraft 1.21.4, and while we’re still in the pre-release testing phase, you can expect a short, final announcement just about 2 Weeks before launch. In line with our roadmap and due to events beyond our control, we’ve decided to rebrand Season 5.1 to Season 6 and instead pour all our efforts into a landmark update, already featuring new content. To keep you in the loop, dev blog posts will appear more often from here on out—so stay tuned!

Core Mechanics

Faction Plots & Raiding

We’re committed to providing an exceptional experience—whether you’re spending your days in the Warzone or have a Minecraft engineering degree.

Therefore we've made some decisions that greatly impact Raiding & Defending

Raiding & Defending Overhaul

To make online raiding more viable and engaging, we’ve introduced several key changes:

1. Raiding Limits

  • Raiders and defenders now have a limited number of lives.
  • After 3 deaths, you’re removed from the raid to prevent endless fights.

2. Allies

  • Faction allies can now support you by joining your raid—whether you’re attacking or defending.
  • Balance: Each faction may only have one ally.

3. Raid Shop

  • As a little gimmick we'll be introducing a raid shop where you can purchase different goodies that'll come in handy during any raid!
  • The Raid Shop will feature it's own custom currency called Energy Crystal, which will be a non-consumable Item obtainable through different in-game mechanics.

4. Faction-Rewind

Raids were often too punishing, leaving defeated factions demotivated. Faction-Rewind lets a raided faction automatically rebuild at a cost:

  • Block Restoration Fee: Based on the number and type of destroyed blocks
  • Additional Surcharge: A percentage on top of the restoration fee

Faction-Rewind doesn’t remove the risk—you still lose your valuables—but it prevents griefers from mindlessly demolishing your base, leaving raid victims with nothing but a base that looks like swiss cheese.

Note: The details regarding this update may still change until the server is ready for release.

We're also happy to announce that Pitforge Season 6 is going to be featuring new Faction Plots with a more modern design

With a building area of 201x201 blocks, these are considerably larger than the old ones. Twice as large to be exact. The raid zone has also become larger, now stretching across 45 Blocks.

TNT & Cannoning Physics

Unlike the original Pitforge or other remakes, we’ve actually forked the server JAR and applied patches directly to Paper Spigot. These under-the-hood changes overhaul things such as explosion and collision physics—making cannoning far more predictable and getting closer to what you may be used to from other Factions Servers.

Note: This topic deserves its own post. I’ll probably cover all the juicy technical details on cannoning physics in an upcoming article!

Non-P2W Focus

We’re committed to a fair, skill-based experience—no pay-to-win shortcuts here. No one should have to purchase a rank in order to experience the game as intended.

  • Most P2W Rank perks have been removed and are now available for everyone either by default or through in-game mechanics.
  • Skill resets are now available weekly for everyone, balancing progress and preserving challenge.
